"During the past five years, there has been a proliferation of legislation that has led to the introduction of REITs to a number of key markets (i.e. Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and France) and created a global market valued in excess of US$ 500 billion. A significant amount of the global capital invested in listed real estate is now held in REITs. Furthermore, in a number of the markets, REITs have largely outperformed property companies. The first regional exchange to issue enabling regulations will be a magnet for those who wish to establish regional REITs."
STEPHEN ATKINSON, MANAGING DIRECTOR, ARABIAN REAL ESTATE INVESTMENT TRUST (AREIT)

The World

In 2003 Nakheel set out to create a global landmark and Dubai’s most iconic address. The World was a bold and ambitious vision of man-made islands located 4 km off the coast of Dubai. Once complete, The World will offer the ultimate in island lifestyle with luxurious estate homes, idyllic resorts, marinas and leisure developments.

All 300 islands will only be accessible by marine or air transport. Two mainland marinas will service The World from the Dubai coastline, while four equally positioned islands within the development will function as transport and utility hubs for boats, yachts or ferries. Nakheel has integrated a series of waterways to enhance the overall design. The project will be a self-sustained city on water with emergency and medical services provided from the islands. All essential utilities such as electricity, sewage and water will also be provided. When completed in 2008, The World would have added a total of 232 km of new beachfront.

Al Habl Al Abbyad Island - An Overview

Al Habl Al Abbyad Island, located on the eastern coast of Abu Dhabi, has been acquired by ALDAR to create a strongly branded high-quality, highly differentiated leisure destination that will put Abu Dhabi on the international map. The total site is approximately 2,500 hectares in area; 1,700 hectares of which will be developed.

The leisure destination will feature a host of facilities, activities, and events surpassing the traditional expectations of an international destination to create a unique and memorable experience.

A main anchor of Al Habl Al Abbyad Island is the Ferrari Concept which will be an entertainment  and destination concept centred on the Ferrari brand and its attributes.

The concept will appeal to the exclusive Ferrari owners as well as to the Ferrari F1 and other Ferrari fans and will be designed to cater to race enthusiasts as well as to families and children of all ages. This is as a result of ALDAR having recently entered into an exclusive arrangement with Ferrari to undertake the ‘Ferrari Concept’ globally. The new Ferrari entertainment experience will enshrine the Ferrari values of ‘technology, innovation and exclusivity’. In addition to this, the concept will reflect aspects of Italy and Maranello as the origin of Ferrari, as well as Abu Dhabi’s unique culture and traditional heritage.
